Jeep Turns 70, Celebrates with Anniversary Editions


As 2011 marks the 70th anniversary of Jeep vehicles heading off to war, the brand rolled out commemorative editions of its five current civilian models today in Detroit. They all come adorned with 70th anniversary badges and a similar logo for the radio screen, Berber floor mats with chestnut stitching, and can be optioned in silver, black, or a unique Bronze Star paint.

Available on the Limited trim, the anniversary treatment equips the 2011 Compass with 18-inch aluminum wheels, dark slate seats with leather inserts bearing an embossed Jeep logo, a dark-green instrument-cluster overlay, and chestnut stitching for the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Compass 70th Anniversary Edition is priced at $24,970.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 70th Anniversary Edition




The new Grand Cherokee’s treatment begins with unique 20-inch polished wheels with gray accents, unique instrument-cluster needles and overlay, dark olive leather seats, dark olive door panel and armrest inserts, a leather-wrapped dark olive center console, black interior accents, and a special anodized paint finish. The upgrades can be applied to Grand Cherokee Laredo X and Limited models, with the result stickering at $36,550.

2011 Jeep Liberty 70th Anniversary Edition



For $25,515, Liberty Sport and Limited trims can be adorned with the 70th anniversary garb. It includes 18-inch Mopar wheels; chrome for the side moldings, roof rails, and a bar above the license plate; olive/slate leather seating with chestnut stitching; a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chestnut accents; satin chrome and anodized interior accents; and stainless-steel doorsill plates.

2011 Jeep Patriot 70th Anniversary Edition



The Patriot celebrates 70 years of Jeep with 17-inch aluminum wheels, dark slate seats with embossed Jeep logos, a dark green instrument-cluster overlay, and chestnut steering-wheel stitching. The cost for Patriot Latitude X models is $22,870.

2011 Jeep Wrangler 70th Anniversary Edition

Arguably the vehicle most closely related to the original Jeeps of 1941, the Wrangler celebrates its brand’s anniversary with new 18-inch wheels, brushed-aluminum doorsill plates, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chestnut accents, and dark olive upholstery with chestnut stitching. Satin chrome surrounds the Wrangler’s climate controls, adorns the interior door handles, and caps the shift lever for models equipped with an automatic transmission. For the two-door Wrangler Sahara trim, the 70th Anniversary Edition requires $29,420; the four-door Wrangler Unlimited is $32,120.
